Marie-Pascale Lafreniere

Marie-Pascale Lafrenière stands in solidarity with Black Lives Matter. If you don't believe that Black, Indigenous and Racialized folks deserve the same safety and opportunities that white people as myself benefit from, kindly do not buy my art. Thank you.

Marie-Pascale Lafrenière is a visual artist and educator from Gatineau, QC. She lives and works in Vancouver, BC. Her practice in photography, video art and performance addresses the absurdity of the feminine portrait in relation to late capitalism and postfeminism. Through dark humour, grotesque and abjection, she questions the link between the representation of wxmen's bodies and mental health. Her own experiences with anxiety and depression feed her creative process. Marie-Pascale holds a MFA from Emily Carr University (2019) and a BA in Visual Arts from Université du Québec en Outaouais (2017). In the last few years, her work has been exhibited in Canada and the United States, including in Centre Voix Visuelle (Ottawa, 2018), De Construkt (New York, 2018), L'Entre-Deux (Gatineau, 2019), and Atelier 17 (Vancouver, 2020).
