I was born in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico and raised in Durham, NC. I was raised on Willie Nelson and Vicente Fernandez, flour tortillas and buttermilk biscuits. I danced Mexican folklorico in my Mama's troupe by day and line danced on hot summer nights with my friends. I learned that please, thank you, and kindess never go out of style. And I learned that though folks may bury us, we seeds will always grow defiant.
