Yulia Lenina

Yulia Lenina (Russian Federation) makes paintings and mixed media artworks including collage.

She explores such personal themes as trust to the world and allowing you to be imperfect. The main subject of her paintings is a landscape as a possible reflection of a human being. She chose the landscape as an object of transfer of her feelings and emotions, accepting this way her own imperfection as a human. By adding layers and textures and applying abstraction, Yulia makes it somewhat not ideal, compared to realism, investigating of what the imperfection means to us. Rather than presenting an actual reality, an illusion is created to stimulate our imagination.

Collage is another tool for Yulia to explore the relations between an artist and the world. She applies even more abstraction to it. She admires the imperfection of ragged edges texture of the pieces and open spaces. Magazines which she use mostly are the metaphor of what is available for us and how we can use it in our favor.
