Kirk Hille

Kirk Hille Grew grew up in the country town of Geraldton, Western Australia. The area contrasts quite dramatically with its ancient table-top ridge hemming the town against the bluest of oceans. When visiting the coastal oasis, it’s not hard to see where Kirk gathers his inspiration for the dramatic. Reds of iron rich sands meets the golden hue of canola crops. Stark white sand dunes spill into the dark blue ocean to the south of the town. Dramatic Greenough trees, the only known existence that grow sideways due to the constant summer breeze. It’s these breathtaking contradictions, that are recognizable in much of his acquired varied career in landscape photography. Kirk Hille is a self-taught photographer who has picked up the necessary skills of his trade through many different sources. He draws from a number of recognized Australian landscape photographers who have pioneered the field. It’s possibly modern detailed approach to photography which gives his work a fresh feel, not bogged down in the old ‘rules’ of the game. Australian landscape photography has seen a dramatic change from the text book imagery of a standard panorama to something that captures not only the subject but the distinct personality of the photographer. With only a the handful of photographers making this new charge, Kirk is well recognized in this group. http://www.kirkhillephotography.com
