Amy Oestreicher is a PTSD peer-to-peer specialist, artist, author, writer for The Huffington Post, speaker for TEDx and RAINN, health advocate, award-winning actress, and playwright. As a survivor and “thriver” of multiple traumas, Amy eagerly shares the gifts of life’s “beautiful detours” her educational programming, writing, mixed media art, performance and inspirational speaking. Amy has headlined international conferences on leadership, entrepreneurship, women’s rights, mental health, disability, creativity, and domestic violence prevention. She is a SheSource Expert, a "Top Mental Health" writer for Medium, and a regular lifestyle, wellness, and arts contributor for over 70 notable online and print publications, and and her story has appeared on NBC’s TODAY, CBS, Cosmopolitan, Seventeen Magazine, Washington Post, Good Housekeeping, MSNBC, among others. She has just published her memoir, My Beautiful Detour: An Unthinkable Journey from Gutless to Grateful. Amy has toured her one woman autobiographical musical, Gutless & Grateful, since 2012 to nearly 250 theatres, conferences, campuses and organizations as a mental health and sexual assault program. Her first solo art exhibit in 2011, Journey Into Daylight (Westport Women’s Club) featured over 70 original works spreading her message of hope in the darkest of times. Since then, Oestreicher has mounted solo exhibits Discovery Museum, Temple Shalom, Picture This Gallery, Ridgefield Tusk and Cup Fine Coffee and several other venues, as well as featured on NBC’s Today Show with Kathie Lee and Hoda. To celebrate life's “beautiful detours”, Amy created the #LoveMyDetour campaign, to help others cope in the face of unexpected events. Amy will be premiering an original one-woman multimedia musical, Passageways, at New York's HERE Arts Center August 6-8, a groundbreaking synthesis of 16 original songs, 200 mixed media artwork projections, live painting and story to explore the journey through profound crisis guided by creativity.
