Paul Gauguin was a French painter and lived from 7 June 1848 till the 8th of May 1903. He was born in Paris, France. He was a post-impressionist painter. He spent 10 years in French Polynesia (Tahiti), the work from this periode contain the people and landscapes from the region.

He was married for 11 years to Mette-Sophie Gad, from Denmark. Some paintings contain an image of her.
