I am a figurative artist based in Leeds, West Yorkshire, UK. I pursue art whilst juggling the roles of being a mother, wife and supply teacher. I have painted and drawn ever since I was little, and despite following a different educational and career path, art remained a constant factor throughout my life. Recently, I obtained an art degree which developed my creative, academic and professional skills and gave me confidence and self-belief in my artistic abilities. My work deploys the material qualities of paint in exploring real and imagined aspects of a subject. My style is identified by expressive brushstrokes, vivid colour and visible textures. My early works were eclectic in terms of style and subject, but over the years they have developed into mature, rounded pieces. I enjoy exploring new techniques and mediums though I work predominantly in acrylic and oils. I work on self-initiated projects and am building a current, cohesive and comprehensive portfolio of work. I consolidate and enhance my artistic practice by doing courses. I created my own website and social media pages and I sell and exhibit my work locally and nationally at galleries, art fairs and online. I do commissions, workshops and demonstrations.
