My approach to creating works of art is similar to the way a piece of music is created. A motivating idea or impulse comes to me. I'll then sketch it out on paper or on the computer to begin developing it.  Through experimentation with the form, line, balance, color, composition and experimentation the idea begins to take shape. It still requires a lot more work to refine the piece until the work is completed... like a band taking their unrefined musical idea into the studio and using their instruments to work with all the creative sound possibilities and experimentation to develop and polish the song into the final product.
