My name is Aleya Speas; I was born and raised in Colorado, which heavily influences the subjects of my pieces. When I was in high school, I wanted to become a concept artist for video games or movies. Ultimately, I decided to study neuroscience in college and follow my true passion of becoming a doctor. My rigorous course load on top of being a student-athlete made me have to push art away into the background of my life. I became incredibly unhappy because I had deprived myself of something so integral to my being. Over the past couple of years, I have made it a point to integrate art into my life as much as I can so I can become a more fulfilled individual.

My preferred mediums are oil/acrylic paints and pen and ink. I generally do landscapes, but I have a collection of a few pieces that are portrait-style. My art has been described as macabre, mocking, and fun-loving. I get a lot of my inspiration from the various landscapes found throughout Colorado as well as the subtle haunts of classic horror movies.
