Hi! My name is Shantall Alam. My work incorporates vibrant colors of the Caribbean and elaborate patterns inspired in the Middle East. Since I am both Dominican and Lebanese, it’s the perfect way to mix my heritage with the breath of the tropical flowers and the scent of spices with patterns. My works connects with hand-painted brushwork as well as complex digital designs. Patterns, architecture, food, flowers, everything inspires me to create.

My inspiration comes from almost everything I see, specially flowers and architectural elements since that was my major. Traveling is also a huge inspiration for my work, since I spent half of the year traveling around the Middle East, and the other half melting my worries aways with the warm waters of the Caribbean Sea. Currently based in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, drawing as much as I can under my mango tree. When I’m not drawing, I do henna designs for my friends and strangers.

• Most memorable moment of my life: air balloons in Cappadocia while watching the sunrise.
