Jamey's passion for creating began at an early age with Legos and anything he could draw with. Influences came from comic books, science fiction movies and role-playing games. Jamey also gained an appreciation for the outdoors and wildlife during family camping trips and vacations around the Midwest. Over the years globetrotting has become a passion of Jamey’s and has been the inspiration for much of his work.
As an active member of the Nyack Art Collective, Jamey has exhibited in numerous First Friday exhibitions. He also participated in Nyack’s annual Art Walk as well as Piermont’s Art in the Park event. Volition Gallery in Orangeburg, NY hosted his first solo show in the spring of 2017. Jamey also holds the distinction of creating the first consumer-designed Pepsi soda can.
Jamey explores many mediums and techniques to convey his subjects but lately has been exploring heavily textured acrylic painting. He blends many watercolor techniques along with acrylic’s dynamic properties to bring energy and vitality to each piece.
Regardless of approach, Jamey’s goal is to convey the true essence of the subject to the viewer, and conjure something as simple as a smile or, perhaps deeper thoughts and feelings¬.
