Ruth Ann Ventrello was born in Georgia, but has lived in several states in the South East. After marrying her husband, a native of Scotland, her family moved to Glasgow. She and her husband have two children who were born in the United Kingdom. Ruth's educational credentials include a BFA, MA, and PGCE in graphic design, visual arts, and arts education. She is a published illustrator and has created art and design for an educational publisher, Entertainment Corporations, and a record label. Ruth describes her favorite occupation as teaching and has taught in the United States, Scotland, England, and South Korea.

Her artistic styles have included cartoon and figurative illustration as well as realistic art work. Her Master of Art degree exhibition featured portraits created with oil paint on canvas in a style reminiscent of American impressionists. Her love and study of nature is exhibited in her realistic acrylic paintings where she records intricate details of textures and patterns found in nature.
