Albuquerque-based artist Bailey Constas creates large, intricate watercolors that explore trauma, neurodivergence, and patterns in nature. A ballet dancer for the first half of her life until major hip surgery at 15, she received a degree in journalism and stage production at Colorado State University. After moving to New York City to work in the music industry, she was sexually assaulted and ended up leaving the traditional workforce.
Beginning painting as therapy, she now dedicates her life to honoring the land through watercolor, creating her own paint from foraged earth and plants, and making paper and papercrete sculptures from recycled waste.
