Brookita Corazón

Brookita Corazón is a self-taught, American artist. As a creative explorer her art varies in styles from Abstract Expressionism and Surrealism, as well as her own style of “Folk Art”. As a multi-faceted artist, she creates in a variety of media: painting, drawing, printmaking, and murals. She also creates artistically in the disciplines of poetry, music, writing and performance. In 2013, Brookita Corazón and her husband, artist Jesse Quam founded the META Project, painting murals and realizing other art projects. Her passion for the Spanish language and cultures resonates throughout her work as a visual artist and poet. Her travels and years of life abroad inspire her creative exploration, art education and self-teaching, which continually guide her artistic career. Focusing on process, Brookita Corazón opens herself to an ongoing dialogue with the unknown, listening to her internal creative voice. She acknowledges her art as an intimate channel between mystery and matter. Being earnest with her role as an artist Brookita Corazón emphasizes her purpose: “My art is my life, and my life is my art.”
