Anchorage based Abstract Painter, Barry S. Wood.

Barry is a self-taught artist born and raised in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, a place called “Small Town Friendly” Rutherfordton, North Carolina. In 2005, at the age of 19, he joined the Air Force and that afforded him the opportunity to pick up a paint brush. He has traveled all around the world to places including: Peru, South Korea, Thailand, New Zealand, Germany, Austria, Finland, Estonia, Russia, Sweden, Canada, Iceland, and Costa Rica. His inspiration comes from experiencing the agricultural elements and the impact of man on earth. Using acrylics and different mixed mediums, he is able to capture those chaotic vistas by altering real life sceneries using vivid colors, deep textures, and a great deal of imagination.
