Catherine Calder is a Fine Artist born and living in South Africa. Her artist aptitude began as a child and has continued as a lifelong passion. Her formal art studies are through her school career and obtaining a diploma in commercial art in 1992 through “Intec College”. She gains her inspiration and is moved by observing the people, places around her. It is not only the places of South Africa but also the inspiring nature around her that stimulates her. Catherine uses her creativity to tell emotions and stories as she feels much can be communicated through an art piece, at times even more than the written or spoken word. It is important to her that her work has a theme of positivity brought to the viewer through light and colour, always striving for excellence and originality in her work. In the future, she sees herself as an artist whose work is desired because of good technical qualities, expertly skilled and carefully thought through compositions. Catherine has been awarded three awards from LightSpaceTime an International Art Contest. Special merit awards for Landscape Art Exhibition 2108, Animals Art Exhibition 2018, and 555 Special Art competition 2018.
