Catherine R. Mapp was born in Miami, Florida. In 2012, she moved to Baltimore, Maryland to study Interdisciplinary Sculpture and Critical Race Theory at the Maryland Institute College of Art. Mapp has already been included in various exhibitions including,”The Biggest Little Tapestries in the World: 12th International Unjuried Small Format Show by the American Tapestry Alliance”, Reno, NV; “MICA’s 2017 Juried Staff Exhibition” at Fox3 Gallery, Baltimore, MD, and “Dyeing Now: Contemporary Makers Celebrate Ethel Mariet’s Legacy” at the Ditchling Museum of Art + Craft, East Sussex, England; “XXChange: A Showcase of Women Artists and Makers,” sponsored by The Contemporary and The Robert W. Deutsch Foundation and organized by the Baltimore Women’s Maker’s Collective at Area 405, Baltimore, MD as well as The Eubie Blake National Jazz and Cultural Institute, Baltimore,MD. Mapp currently lives and works in Station North, Baltimore.
