Carmen Cespedes de Fajth, Bolivian painter, studied at the San Alejandro School in Havana and the Hernando Siles School of Fine Arts in La Paz. She participated in several exhibitions with other artists. She held three individual painting exhibitions in Bolivia and two in the United States. She made illustrations for books and taught painting classes to children. Carmen was the director of an art gallery in La Paz, Bolivia. To maintain her artistic career, Carmen also worked as an administrative assistant at the Superintendency of Banks among others. Her exhibitions aroused the interest of intellectuals in her country and were substantially covered by the Bolivian press. She was also included among the most important contemporary Bolivian painters in an art book. From the beginning of her career she sought to capture “magical realism” in her work, during the last decade the themes in her work have had an African, Asian and European influence, reflecting a globetrotting life. She started out designing textiles, creating a fusion of paint and textiles during her time in Bangkok, Beijing, and Shanghai. Carmen currently resides in Budapest, Hungary.

Carmen Céspedes de Fajth, pintora boliviana, estudió en la Escuela San Alejandro de La Habana y la Escuela de Bellas Artes Hernando Siles en La Paz. Participó en varias exposiciones colectivas. Realizó tres exposiciones individuales de pintura en Bolivia y dos en Estados Unidos. Hizo ilustraciones para libros e impartió clases de pintura a niños. Carmen fue Directora de una galería de arte en La Paz, Bolivia. Para mantener su carrera artística, Carmen también se desempeñó como asistente administrativa en la Superintendencia de Bancos entre otros. Sus exposiciones despertaron el interés de los intelectuales de su país y fueron ampliamente cubiertas por la prensa boliviana. También fue incluida entre los pintores bolivianos contemporáneos más importantes en un libro de arte. Desde el inicio de su carrera buscó plasmar el “realismo mágico” en su obra, durante la última década los temas de su obra han tenido una influencia africana, asiática y europea, reflejando una vida de trotamundos. Comenzó diseñando textiles, creando una fusión de pintura y textiles durante su residencia en Bangkok, Beijing y Shanghai. Carmen reside actualmente en Budapest, Hungría.
