Hi there! Thank you for stopping by my art studio. I have been a sculptress for years, shipping my work across the globe. My work has been featured in many blogs, websites and magazine. I now make myself take time to draw, paint and take a few photographs.
My love for creativity came from a very early age, enjoying the art of ceramics, painting, photography, sewing, etc. I spent over 12 years in the 8 hour a day job (more like 10 with lunch and travel time), after about 10 years into my full-time day job with paid insurance, retirement, paid sick and vacation leave. I started making sculptures and posting them for sale online and while by that time, I enjoyed working as a criminal intelligence analyst. I had to make a decision of whether to continue working 20 hours a day sculpting at night and working my day job or take the leap and follow my creative dreams. I had scheduled a trip to go visit my elderly grandma but my lack of sleep had me take two weeks off and I slept, woke up, sculpted took care of my animals and farm life and went to the post office and slept some more. At the end of the two weeks I had two weeks of paperwork to catch up on and I was still exhausted so I had to make a decision of what I wanted to do. So here I am, with you today. I have been a full-time artist and farmerette for about 10 years now.
In the last 10 years I have made thousands of sculptures, shipping them to happy homes to be enjoyed for a lifetime. I met my wonderful husband and best friend who helps be my shipping manager and post office delivery man, normally just before they close. We own and run an organic farm and set up at farmers markets weekly. I have baked thousands of cookies and loaves of bread. Ron and I have both planted thousands of seeds, plants and pulled six trillion weeds yearly. Each year we hatch a few hundred chicks and sell hundreds of dozens of chicken and duck eggs. We plant and harvest year-around and yes, there are too many times that I see the wee hours of the morning before I lay my head down for a few hours of rest.
During most of those 10 years I have rarely made the time to pick up a pencil or paint brush. When I sit down to sketch or paint it is like a breath of fresh air, like walking into an air conditioned environment on a hot day. I instantly relax and I don't worry about that plant that needs weeded around or the chick that's hatching two days late. It's hard to explain but I like it - a lot. Like calgon has taken me away.
I am trying to upload videos more on our farm's YouTube channel at Little Eden Heirloom Farm. Some are silly while some are instructional and informational. A photograph or painting of some animal, bug, plant, etc., you may recognize from a vlog and/or photograph from our blog under the same name. We also have a blog under the same name. I am not sure now if I will create time to bring back to life an old Country Squirrels-R-US blog or just share from one.
I enjoy the process whether it be pencil, acrylic, watercolor and more so here you may find various mediums as I share my work with you.
Thank you for supporting me as a full-time artist (and farmerette). Please stop by often as I try to add newly completed work weekly.
