David grew up in a Southwestern Corner of the Mojave Desert in a town called Quartz Hill. He had always loved drawing but had not yet felt the urge to make a career out of it, his mother, probably his biggest fan, encouraging him all the while.
After high school, he enlisted in the U.S Navy as a Corpsmen assigned to the Marines. Afterward, he began working in hospitals around Southern California as a CNA until landing a job as an Orthopedic Physician Assistant in Panorama City, California. During this time, he also began acting in television, movies, and theatrical plays, starting to realize that the entertainment industry may have been an exciting new path to follow. A life changing experience, however, would alter his course again.
While he and his wife were expecting their fourth child, the baby, Cheyanne, had a stroke in the womb, causing all of her organs to fail and she was not expected to live. Nevertheless, David and his wife refused to give up hope, staying at the hospital everyday for three months. Eventually, and miraculously, she came around and was finally released from the hospital. Cheyanne is now 20 years old, she still deals with Cerebral Palsy, yet she is alive, and she is very happy!
After this experience, David realized he needed more stability and began attending college. It was during this time, on a trip with his family to a Thomas Kinkade gallery, that David thought it was time he returned to his love for painting. With his mother's never-ending encouragement, he decided to go for it. He started by painting a copy of a picture he loved in a calendar and his mother loved it even more than the original. She eventually had it framed and placed, just above her piano, where it hangs to this day!
As David worked at honing his painting skills, he completed his college goals, obtaining a Masters Degree in Upper Education, and a Bachelors Degree in Physical Education, which lead him to a great position as a high school teacher and head coach of the football team. After 28 years of coaching football David retired from coaching and is now working hard on painting.
David and his wife have 5 children and now a granddaughter. He now resides in his original hometown, Quartz Hill, California, where he lives with his wife. David continues to paint, focusing on the picturesque scenes that he finds while roaming "daydreaming and reflecting" scenes, of Nature Back Home. Most of his original paintings were created with acrylics; however, he has now taken it to a new level with the addition of oils to give them a more realistic and vibrant feel.
SECRET: There are five items hidden in every painting David creates, representing his five children. Starting with every oil on acrylic painting he has added his granddaughter's name "Arya" right in plain sight....if you know what you are looking at! Can you spot them?
