Dextra has been involved with art all her life. Her earliest influences included her grandfather, who passed on the love of comics to her at an early age. It was all downhill from there.

She displayed an artistic aptitude, as well as a relatively high IQ and was placed in advanced classes in elementary school. It was in these classes that a well-meaning teacher decided to show her the latest in art and technology and attempted to teach her how to do pixel art on an Apple II. On that day, Dextra swore she would never do art with a computer ever again.

In complete contradiction to that oath, approximately 95% of art in her portfolio today is drawn on a Wacom tablet using Photoshop CS6 and ArtRage4. Dextra will occasionally doodle on random objects or a travel sketchbook. However, she loathes games like Pictionary because of the time limit, and the Draw Something app because she has chubby fingers and is compelled to draw piles of rainbow colored excrement for every word.

In addition to using digital means to produce her artwork, Dextra is also fond of music and has been known to belt out heartfelt renditions of Celine Dion songs in an Eric Cartman voice after a few glasses of wine. She also enjoys playing drums, but has compromised to sticking with Rock Band for her drumming and singing urges, mostly for the sake of her roommates’ sanity and to spare herself public embarrassment.

Dextra was born at the tail end of the 70’s in rural Kentucky. She spent the next 18 years awaiting escape. Which she did, several times, before finally settling in Colorado, where several cats allow her and her roommates to share their house. One of the cats, who appears to actually be an alien of Irken descent, has claimed her as his life mate. She does not argue, for the sake of preventing an invasion by the Irken armada. Please, support Dextra in her artistic endeavors so that she may continue to keep our fuzzy overlord content. Do it for her. Do it for America. Do it for the Earth. And babies. Whatever you want. The chick is poor and needs to eat.
