I am influenced by the lush tropical plants, sunsets and nature that surround me, as well as the diverse cultural experience in S. Florida. I love using lots of texture and colors and layering my work. Sometimes I layer photos I’ve taken of various plants to create depth and I like playing with negative and positive space. When I am working on my art, I am in the moment, and it’s a great feeling! I combine hand drawn art, doodles and photos I take with digital tools on the computer to create floral, geometric and abstract designs. Formally trained in textile design at the University of Massachusetts with continued online education at The Textile Design lab, Make it in Design and Skillshare courses. I also studied fashion design, fine arts, print making and painting, sewing and pattern making. In high school, I had the opportunity to work under batik artist, Betsy Johnson for several years, using the wax and dyeing process to create silk and cotton scarfs. After college I focused on the collage medium using found objects and fabric, and exhibited at several galleries and expos where I had a sold out show! Other passions include latin dancing, music and dance of all kinds, and homeschooling my son. Dora Font
