I started expressing myself creatively in the 3rd grade. I wrote my first poem, about a willow tree and started fiddling around with fiber arts. I drew anything and everything I could see, trees, clouds, the world around me. In Junior High, I discovered performance arts while still holding onto my pencil. After High School, I stopped abruptly due to life and its other plans for me. But after a very long hiatus, 2 - ish years ago, I came back with vengeance, reclaimed my pencil and started drawing and writing once more. I have always found something extremely beautiful in charcoal and pastels. I felt drawn towards them, the darkness of charcoal and the bright and calm of the pastel. The moment I held them in my hand, spreading them across my paper, it felt as though they had always belonged there, an extension of myself.
