Francisco Corella Borrás

Born in Valencia (Spain) 29 years ago, he soon showed an interest in drawing and painting. After completing his bilingual studies at the French Lyceum, he studied Architecture, Restoration and Fine Arts at the Polytechnic University of Valencia. He currently lives in Cologne (Germany), where he works as a teacher of Spanish, painting and drawing, while continuing to expand his work.

The theme of his work is critical: it seeks to shake consciences, question the reality of today's consumer society, dominated by materiality and vanity. He imagines his paintings as warnings, taking place in a possible future, or past, terrible; dystopian nightmares in sterile fields and broken landscapes. He conceives the figure of the artist as defined by Félix de Azúa: an individual who lends his eyes and sensitivity to society, to offer visions of reality in ways that others cannot perceive. He believes in responsible, committed art. And although art, unlike the media, is a form of soft and slow influence, its effect is produced in the depths of the psyche, in the spirit, and there it remains: art is the plow that furrows the spirit where ideas will germinate. The artist is an engineer of the soul of his time.
