Colin Campbell is a freelance illustrator and animator. in 2018 the New England born Colin received a BFA in Animation and Interactive Media from Montserrat College of art.
Though he primarily illustrates digitally, Mr. Campbell is heavily inspired by works created with pen and ink, an influence visible through his heavy use of linework, busy crosshatching and conveyance of shadow through sharp, defined black shapes. His illustrations often depict cartoonish exaggerated characters as well as surreal almost abstract landscapes and scenarios.
Though his preferences lie with the surreal and cartoonish, Colin is an extremely versatile artist able to tackle any subject in any way asked of him. He is also prone to experiment with different styles, creating not only pen and ink inspired works but also painterly works devoid of any linework as well as a faux watercolor style employed in painting buildings and landscapes.
Colin's illustrations have been displayed in numerous shows, galleries, and shops all throughout the New England area such as Inky Hands in Plymouth MA, Made It also in Plymouth MA and the Montserrat Small Works Exhibition in the 201 Gallery in Beverley MA.
