If you've ever stood on top of a mountain, paused on a windswept beach, or sat quietly under a forest canopy, you may know what it's like to feel at one with the life and elements that surround us.

I aim to capture a little of the sense that you get when, escaping from distractions, you connect with yourself and your surroundings in a meaningful way.


I look for forms and interactions that create a kind of visual resonant frequency. I use my instinct a lot, and allow the work to create it's own language. It's important to me that each brushstroke, each artistic action is purposeful and considered, even when the addition of a textural element contains an degree of unpredictability. It's about finding a sweet spot between pure instinct and restrained discipline. In that regard it has, for me, some similarities to a martial arts or Zen practice.
