Isabelle Mouton

Artist current living in Richmond, VA. I make jewelry and works on paper!

My work explores the myth-making process, specifically the sharing of stories, emotions, and experiences. Inspired by the act of storytelling that creates all legends, I interpret my personal experiences into magical narratives through illustration and text onto paper. Ancient works of art, literature, and religious themes inform my narratives because of their portrayal of universal themes and how they have shaped our understanding of what a "myth" is. In creating handmade books, zines, distributed works, and jewelry, I hope to give the viewer or wearer of my work a unique experience. As my narratives deal with human experiences such as joy, fear, grief, or social interaction, the sharing of my personal stories reaches people of all backgrounds, transforming my work into objects with a universal mythology ♥️
