Interview with the Artist:

Drawing inspiration from her travels, Jennifer Berdy creates paintings that express her love of architecture, world culture and nature. Her bold use of color and attention to detail combine to create joyful yet relaxing artwork.

'When I see a particular scene, I try to re-visualize it in an idealized way with a bit more color and embellishment than reality,' says Jennifer.

Jennifer's travels have taken her throughout North America and Europe. An avid amateur photographer, she captures her memories to use later as reference photos for her art.

'One of the joys of creating artwork based on my travels is that I can relive the joy of being there and transport the viewer with me back to that precious moment that will never exist again. I love photography but there's something particularly special about being able to infuse the emotion of that moment into a painting,' Jennifer explained.

Jennifer Berdy uses a variety of media, from watercolor to pen and ink and acrylics, and says, 'Twenty years ago, of course, I started out on canvas and paper like most other artists at the time. I absolutely love how far digital art has come. I now tend to create most of my pieces digitally using Corel Painter, Adobe Photoshop CC and sometimes Adobe Illustrator. I also love the flexibility of my iPad in that I can even paint while I'm traveling on a plane! I also enjoy creating 3D digital art through Zbrush, Poser and DAZ Studio.'

As to why she is an artist, Jennifer explains, 'To me, 'good art' is anything that brings something positive into the world. If my artwork can spark joy, love or hope in at least one person, then it's been worth my time. Absolutely.'

Jennifer was first formally trained as an artist in college but went on to become a teacher and later a senior-level marketing executive, crafting marketing campaigns for some of the world's largest companies and speaking at national marketing conferences. After a successful career in marketing, she returned to her passion: art.

Jennifer currently works from her art studio in Florida with her husband, two sons and dog.
