The tatter books on the shelf, the wedding photo of Aunt Dot, and all the stories attached. I am a collector of mementos and memories, keeping sacred what others cast aside. My home is full of antiques and objects that while they are too “valuable” to throwaway, are nevertheless given away or sold to make room for new. In my artwork, I gather these stories and ideas and recycle them. Breathing new life into old concepts or images, while perpetuating thier existence. Although I paint for my own pleasure, I enjoy the dialog my pieces create, when the tired fairytale becomes a debate, or a vintage illustration is reborn. But what never fails to bring a smile to my face, my favorite question, “Are you ok?”
