I grew up in the seventies and eighties in the north of Ireland. And from what i have gleaned from family i was never without some form of pencil or crayon in my hands.
beginning my childlike etchings on anything that wasn't nailed down , i grew into the murals that crystalized the community i lived in.
A giant leap from drawings of dinosaurs to armed men on gable walls and graffiti in between , through school and the University where i began to seriously hone my mind and my painterly aptitudes.
Graduating then left me to pursue my artistic vision of the American dream while i applied to further my education Stateside.
Seems like a quarter of a century ago which in fact it is where I'm still in pursuit of the aforementioned dream.
My works are in one form or another about the human condition , or conditioning. The ties that both bind and at times separate. I literally pour myself into my paintings , all of which are difficult to capture truthfully and visually. Being ones own critic tends to do this.
Being a painter i avail myself of delving into history , resurrecting images , lines , marks , colors , people and stories from our past so as to make an imprint today.
I tend to make animals the protagonists in my works. As an ardent admirer and advocate for our fellow furry travelers , introducing them , mostly cows , foxes and rabbits into surreal scenarios to explain the unexplainable.
