Karen Strangfeld

I'm a New Englander, with a BA in Studio Art, Art History, Museum Studies. I've spent almost two decades working at one of Boston's largest art museums, and now live out in a tiny town in northern central New England.

I think painting is pretty similar to writing, or cooking. You start out with a blank canvas and an idea. And you know a lot of rules about how to put everything together. But there's a lot of freedom after that.

Much like cooking- we create for others to enjoy. And to share what delights our own senses. What an artist paints is insight into what moves them. It's stripped down and honest, and that's part of what keeps me coming back to it every time.
