Knits by Ed

The Explorer's Journal, When Ed set out on his expedition many years ago, He never imagined where the voyage would take him. In his search for amazing specimens he discovered mysterious creatures of the deep, beasts of a forgotten jungle, and life beyond imagination. Ed is the mascot for The Knits by Ed Co. He's a Victorian explorer and naturalist. His exotic adventures are the inspiration for all of the handcrafted items I make.

I’m a maker of nature inspired textile art. I get really excited about 19th-century expeditions, old books, and marine biology. I scour local shops for all kinds of used sweaters, worn out blankets and discarded scarves, take them home, deconstruct them, and then turn them into gorgeous recycled fabric and yarn. I also use sustainable wool yarn, felt made from recycled water bottles, and recycled fiberfill. With these eco-friendly materials, I make my realistic soft creatures.

The illustrations you find here are an extension of all that. My work is always inspired by the natural world and a percentage of all sales are donated to organizations that help save endangered wildlife and protect at-risk habitats across the globe.

Go explore the natural world!
