Inspired by nature, real and imagined, Konnie Kim paints in bold and radiant colors. She is drawn to many works of the Fauves and the Impressionists. She is also fascinated by the honesty and spontaneity of children's art. Her calligraphic brush strokes and interesting use of colors are what the collectors love about Konnie's work.
Konnie's earlier work reflects her curious personality. She has explored almost all available medium and styles of fine art and graphic design. At the age of 18 she realized her first commercial success with licensed illustrations for a manufacturer and she is currently licensed with others. While in college she coordinated fine art shows in traditional and non-traditional settings for herself and other artists. These became known as "Any Space Shows". The venues included hotels, galleries, schools and theaters, eventually totaling over 100 shows. Konnie has received numerous awards and her work has appeared in magazines, newspapers, TV shows and online venues.
Konnie owned an art gallery and frame shop for eighteen years. Clients included Northrop Corporation, Hyundai Motors Corporation, Market Broiler Restaurants, USMC Museum, wall decor manufacturers, artists, photographers, interior designers and the general public. Konnie has also taught art classes to adults and children. In 2007, she sold the business wishing to devote more time to art. Konnie's original paintings and reproductions may be found in galleries and gift shops as well as private and corporate collections.
