Lakey

Traveling visionary artist who's home base is Austin, TX. Every year when it gets hot in Texas Lakey takes to the road traveling the country sharing his art on the streets. He first started drawing in 2009 after quitting a job and almost a decade later he is still going. The first five years of creating the work was unplanned stream of conscious that sometimes ended up with a story and other times was just a cool design. In 2012 Lakey decided to start traveling across the country creating and sharing art out on the streets. The first year was rough leaving Lakey sleeping outside, eating at homeless feeds, and missing days of showering while creating 8-10 hours per day in the streets. In 2013 Lakey put on a suit and tie and started posting up beside a sign saying "Grandma said I needed a job wearing a suit and tie...this is my compromise." With this change income increased more than ten fold.

Eventually a little structure was needed after Lakey realized he wanted to draw certain ideas/concepts based off of a lifelong interest in numbers, letters, and lines. This lead to a couple years of drawing "Sacred Geometry" and exploring patterns in different number, symbol, and alphabet systems ranging several different cultures. These drawings ended up leading a Lakey to discovering a pattern he discovered within the English Alphabet. Nowadays Lakey posts up and does mandalas with sidewalk chalk that highlight this structure while providing extra chalk so others might create.

Through the years of concentrating on visual art I've gotten a little rusty with my writing...getting back into it lately and will improve this.
