The motivation behind my work is a need to find a position. I want to set up the viewer and hold them. I do this by simplifying my imagery, distilling it and then consider the best way to spark my audience's interest and self reflection. This position, whether it be physical, social, historical or spiritual seems to manifest itself when it produces moments that bear witness. Realistic representation is my vehicle that best suits my aims, however, these are fabricated moments of acute clarity of sight. Through open narratives, my purpose is to make the viewer feel absolutely present.
