laurie rosenwald

Laurie Rosenwald is a painter, author, and principal of rosenworld, a design studio. Actually, there is no studio; Miss Rosenwald usually works alone, and rosenworld does not exist. In spite of this, www.rosenworld.com was launched in 1995. She paints with hot, colored wax -encaustic- a sadly misunderstood medium, much abused by hobbyists and housewives- anyone who enjoys the smell of burning flesh. She has exhibited paintings curated by John Cheim and Stephen Truax of Cheim and Read at SpringBreak 2020, and is represented by Galerie Pixi, Paris. Rosenwald hosts a super fun and popular workshop called “How to Make Mistakes on Purpose” for the likes of Google, Ikea, Ted-x, Scholastic, Adobe, Starbucks, Johnson & Johnson, The Prince of Sweden and a herd of elk. It is not a creativity workshop. Trying to be creative works about as well as trying to be charming. She also does humor writing, as well as writing which is only marginally funny. Her other books include “New York Notebook” and “All the Wrong People Have Self-Esteem.” How to Make Mistakes on Purpose was published by Hachette in November, 2021.

Rosenwald has done hundreds of drawings for The New Yorker, The New York Times, New York, The Atlantic, Harper’s, The New York Observer, and countless other publications. She can draw circles around other people that draw circles, and, except for the shoplifting, has a great deal of personal integrity. She divides her time between New York and Sweden, speaks Swedish like a native New Yorker, and claims to have won all the usual awards.
