My name is Lucia. I am a relatively well-traveled university-educated linguist and an as-yet unpublished writer with a diverse mosaic of life experience behind me. I used to be a translator, but was extremely unhappy in the profession. It was thus very late in life that I discovered the joy of being creative and artistic--in music, in dance and in drawing. This artistic endeavor on Society6 is an aspect of my second lease on life, after having to quit full-time translation due to reasons previously alluded to.
I love to draw designs or motifs, as I call them, and then color them in with markers. I learned how to process my hand-drawn motifs in Photoshop and prepare them for digital print at a course I took at Chelsea College of Arts in London in 2018. I draw anywhere from 2-5 motifs in one series or collection and color all of them in the same color scheme. After I finish drawing and coloring them, I scan them and process them in Photoshop. After I finish processing all of the motifs for the collection, I “mix and match” them into interesting configurations in Photoshop, according to the pixel dimensions of a respective product for printing on Society6.
I began doing this for the sole purpose of furnishing my living room with pillows and wall art in the colors I needed (the Gilded Autumn series). I find that my taste is at odds with almost everything locally available, so I decided to take matters into my own hands.
