American folk artist Lynn Shaw has loved art and creating art since her childhood. Growing up, she would draw and sketch on her own until she eventually found an art class, painting on china. Being an “old soul”, she fit right in with all of the other 80 plus year old art students.
Lynn became an art educator after graduating from college and since has earned her Master’s in Education. She has also enjoyed teaching art education outside the traditional classroom; for summer camps and children in Home School educational settings.
Recently, Lynn has decided to work on her own original art. She has been the featured artist for several retail setting open houses and has painted numerous paintings for commissioned work. Her first love is creating paintings with folk art scenes with a native theme. These paintings reflect her love of antiques, Americana, and the uncomplicated. In the past few months, however, her mixed media and collage art is now becoming an important part of her work, as well.
She was fascinated by collage, while doing her studio work in college. She has now incorporated the technique in her mixed media work, most significantly with the subject of folk art angels.
