The artist creates watercolor paintings inspired by femininity as a dynamic interaction of various biological and cultural factors. Passionate about jazz, classical music and contemporary fusion dance, Maya loves to explore the bonding between performer, his instrument and the sound & motion as essence of imporovisation. Another big theme interprets the sexual aspect of femininity as a set of attributes, behaviors, and roles generally associated with women. The whiplash lines, recalling art nouveau are gently integrated with some impressionist strokes and different ethno - Afro, Indian and Japanese ornamentation. Flat use of water colors together with gouache, gives the works expressive, colorful and joyful appearance.
