Markéta Gebrian is a Prague–based digital artist, designer, architect for virtual reality spaces. She started her studies in Architecture and Art at Technical University in Liberec in the Czech Republic. As an architectural intern, she worked in top architectural offices in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Paris. Studied at Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam and Ecole Val-de-Seine in Paris and at La Sapienza University in Rome. She completed her Master’s degree in architecture in 2006 in Liberec. She worked as an architect in London and Los Angeles. But her dream was to start her new path in life and concentrate on art. In 2010 she created her first digital artwork using 3D programs she knew from the architectural practice. Markéta Gebrian has focused her attention to her digital art. She has exhibited as a solo artist in Prague and in group shows in Basel, New York, Zürich, Miami and Prague. Since 2015 she has been PhD student at Czech Technical University in Prague, the topic of her dissertation is Architectural Space Through Virtual Reality. Her work has also been shown in architectural and art conferences in Rome, Lecco, Verona and Prague. She was awarded an artist residency in Czech Centre in Moscow in 2018. She completed two types of visiting research in Barcelona in 2018 and in Lisbon in 2019. She was recently awarded a Fulbright Scholarship for six months in 2021.
