Internationally acclaimed artist Melani Pyke creates surrealist paintings in oil and acrylic. With over 25 years as a professional artist and having completed YWAM’s University of the Nations’ School of Illustration program in Kona Hawaii in 2001, and Mohawk College’s Graphic Design program in 2003, Melani continues to share her art practice in the local community by leading art camps and classes, painting for live audiences, and painting window and wall murals throughout Niagara and Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
From a young age Melani has felt called by God to express his love through visual art. The quest to communicate truth, hope and healing has led her to create paintings based on teachings of the Bible which remind us that there is order even in a seemingly chaotic world. Bringing ancient truths to a modern viewer in a relatable way stirs up conversations about meaning, the spiritual realm, existence of heaven, how we think of death and what might be beyond it. Melani's surrealist style allows her to juxtapose images to create metaphors for spiritual realities that cannot be seen.
