RESIDING IN THE QUAINT TOWNSHIP OF MOUNT VICTORIA...
Kara Cooper (she used to be a Smith) finds inspiration in illustrations, photographs, found objects, favourite things, a hint of Australiana and the nostalgia of the Blue Mountains to create fun and quirky greeting cards, tea towels, handmade calendars, fabrics, wallpapers, original artworks and earrings for her Mount Vic and Me range. You can find it here: www.mountvicandme.com
Having worked on countless graphic-design projects for clients for over 20 years – and having worked in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Darwin and Alice Springs, Kara decided it was time to do her own thing. In 2013, she began designing a handful of greeting cards for her range in her little studio in the Blue Mountains. Her popular range has been picked up by numerous stockists throughout Australia.
Kara works from her little cottage and corrugated iron studio, set high amid banksias and rhododendron blooms. A fat old cattle dog, Lucy, lies by the back step along with a bouncing pug, Badger. Her numerous chooks roam among the veggies and a vintage 1980s caravan sits out the front of the house. It’s the perfect setting for conjuring up beautiful imagery!
