Nicky Stevenson completed a Foundation Course in Art and Design at South Devon College in 1982, followed by a Ceramics Degree at Middlesex University in 1986. She drew and painted throughout her college life and her career as a prop maker and designer in theatre, film and television. Nicky worked in Liverpool as Head of Props at the Liverpool Playhouse and the Everyman Theatre. She now lives in Brixham and paints full time and is proprieter of The Nicky Stevenson Gallery, Brixham. Nicky believes you have a moral duty to remain optimistic and paints colourful images of birds, fish and reptiles which are a visual feast for the eyes and reflect her sense of the ridiculous. Inspiration is found in everyday life, literature and many different cultures. Nicky has become a well-known artist through exhibitions of her work both here and abroad, and through the publication of her work as Greeting Cards, Prints, Limited Edition Giclee Prints and mugs. More latterly Nicky has written and illustrated stories for children, which are proving to be well loved by children and adults !
