I was a skilled amateur photographer in the 1980s, complete with darkroom. As family and other responsibilities came along, I was forced into a different direction, and eventually stopped altogether, to my great regret. In 2014, I got an iPhone, which takes fabulous pictures (some are here in my collection), and found myself with the time and incentive to take up photography again as an enjoyable hobby. Friends encouraged me to take it more seriously, so in 2017 I acquired an entry-level Canon DSLR and happily dubbed myself The Occasional Photographer. While I still rely on a day job to pay the bills and support my photography, I continue to work and study to improve my craft while I take the next step toward full-time photography.
