Orly Faya is a Sydney born artist who paints people into the world.
An anthropologist, visual artist, poet, fire dancer, environmental activist and more, Orly has been expressing herself with gusto since pretty much the beginning. She began her journey as a body painter in 2010 and hasn’t looked back since.
Her recent collections of work have been deeply invested in promoting issues of environmental sustainability and conscious living and can be seen at www.orlyfaya.com. Eight years on, Orly’s work has become a fusion of spiritual mentorship with Body Art, facilitating deep shamanic healing experiences for everyday people from all walks of life. As an Internationally recognised award winning artist, her fans come from all over the world and her following is growing more and more every day.
Orly explains, "In re-merging humanity with nature, I aim to incite powerful emotional and psychological responses, to encourage the development of the individual’s sense of connectivity to one another and the planet itself. Through re-membering ourselves as part of the earth, we become aligned with nature and offer humanity the possibility of a sustainable existence on our planet Earth. Remembering and honouring our connection to the planet is crucial for our survival.”
Orly presented her original collection known as ‘The Gaia Collection’, in 2015, a compilation of 18 mimetic pieces of human canvas merged with landscape. Each artwork represents a story, an expedition and a powerful interaction between the one being painted, Orly, and the Earth. In 2016, she launched her Emerging Earth People Project, an initiative that highlights Indigenous Wisdoms of the planet by connecting them to country through her paintbrush. The individual projects that span over 3 continents can be seen at www.emergingearthpeople.com.
These artworks are part of a bigger initiative called ‘The Gaia Project’, an entity for establishing creative collaborations that aim to impact social and environment changes, and create a more sustainable way of living in the world. One of The Gaia Projects key questions is “How can we recycle revenue back into sustainable initiatives around the world, in order to reestablish global responsibility within our global community?
Her message is simple - we came from the earth, live from the earth, and will return to the earth - anything that undermines the importance of environmental sustainability must be questioned and reconsidered, including the entire structure of corporate capitalism and any systems of governments that perpetuate damage to the land.
Orly practises as a creative enterprise mentor and coach for leaders in the activist community and continues to create groundbreaking artworks to support the awakening of humanity to the new world founded less on consumerism and more on creationism as a means of fulfilment rather than endless accumulation.
