Julie VanSuch is a Philadelphia, PA based artist and textile designer. While at Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), where she received a BFA in Textiles in 2007, VanSuch started creating her abstract art. VanSuch is very inspired by nature, astronomy, glitch and geometric shapes. She likes to play with overlapping patterns and organic motifs to create art that looks like it belongs in a surrealist dream. VanSuch uses drawing, painting, collage, photography and some digital media to create her artwork. She draws inspirations from her love of craft, textile industry techniques and her travel adventures. Most recently, a trip to Bali sparked inspiration for her recent works. By combining her nostalgic memories into vivid, pattern filled landscapes, VanSuch hopes her work is a glimpse into a new perspective, a cosmic escape for contemplation.
