I am a self taught artist of mostly florals, landscapes, still life, wildlife (birds, chipmunk, deer, etc.) and Biblical inspired art. I have painted with acrylics, oils and watercolors. I love the quick drying time of the acrylics, and I love painting with oils, yet I don't care for the lengthy drying time. I didn't realize I could paint until I picked up a paint brush, picked up some paint, and spread it on a canvas, and if I hadn't done that, I would have never known. That is the reason I feel I am not an artist, except that the Lord has enabled me to be what I am, I don't feel I can be an artist apart from Him. and I wish to share my gift of art with my guests who visit with me here at Society6, with your family, for your home and with your friends. I look forward to hearing from each of you who visit with me.

I can look back, growing up as a young girl, playing around with crayons, watercolors, tempera paints...I showed signs of my passion for drawing when I was in the 7th grade. That year I would draw, draw and draw, instead of doing school work. I was drawing sketches of ladies in fashion clothing and hair styles; maybe my thoughts was to be a fashion designer. I passed on into the 8th grade by the skin of my teeth. I had never made below an A or B up until that year. The next year I buckled down and got serious about my schooling, on until I graduated. I married my childhood sweetheart two months after graduation. I dated "Pop" all during high school, and as of this year 2018, we have been married 54 years. As I raised three girls, when the youngest was 3 years old, and the other two were 10 and 13, I went to work at a daycare, and there I did the sketching of coloring pages for the preschool class and the preschool class I taught at church. We had to move my Dad into our home, and he was with us 12+ years until he went to our heavenly home. During that time, I also did childcare for family and friends 12 hours a day, 5 days a week. My drawings then took on sketches for these children to color. Pop's Dad came down with lung cancer, and we moved both of his parents into our home. Papaw went to our heavenly home a year later. Then we began to travel, but each time we were home, we brought Mamaw back into our home. So art ended up on the back burner during these years. We cared for elderly parents 23 years in our home.

Then art was taken off the back burner. I did my first oil painting 18+ years ago, and today it hangs in the home of one of our granddaughters. It is a painting I titled "Lonely Isle" a snow and ice covered mountainous landscape. Our granddaughter said it reminded her of the mountains in Colorado where she had spent time working with teenagers and their parents and one thing they did while there was climbing the rocks of the mountains in Colorado. Today, I mostly paint with acrylics, some with watercolors, and some with oils.

Today my passion for art has unleashed. It holds my mind captive. Every day my thoughts are either on the next painting, or I am into the next painting. I want to give my life to art these days.

When I say I am a daily painting artist, I am not saying I finish a painting every day, but that I am into art every day until I have another work of art completed. Today we still travel, and my art supplies go with me, and I am painting in Florida, across the beautiful state of Tennessee, South Carolina, Missouri, and any other places our travels take us to.

If it were where I couldn't bring my art supplies and a camera with me, I don't think I would enjoy travelling as much. Art makes me want to travel for all the animals, birds, butterflies, flowers, mountainous landscapes, homes, barns and churches of the past remaining among the landscapes, and through art, memories are preserved,...
