Sara Shields is a Toronto-based artist specializing in unique abstract figure work. Her prints communicate a desire to find community – inward nurturing and healing – in the face of an external world that is so often one of isolation and fragmentation.

Anthropomorphic in appearance, her imagined figures inhabit an alien universe; often personal and autobiographically-based, the reality presented is melded with the surreal aspects of dream as Shields tries to make sense of the world around her.
