Side Dimes was created by Mikayla Lapierre, a art director based out of Brooklyn, New York. Mikayla started Side Dimes to make art that sees through cultural norms and defines pop culture in society. Her pieces give a voice to the women of the 17th and 18th century by mashing up the old and the new — ideas, understandings, trends and pop culture — to create an original and irreverently modern ‘side’ piece. All Dimes are digitally painted on top of reproductions of paintings from the 17th and 18th century
