Hi Friends, I started painting when I was a child and that silly sunflower that I painted on a piece of cardboard is still on my mother's wall today. Painting for me has always been a way to connect with nature. To observe and to tell a story. I feel connected with the medium of watercolor. At the beginning, of my painting journey, I taught craft painting on wood. I had created a series of wood acrylic paintings for my son's bedroom and I wanted to share how to with others. This leads me to meet other artists. Then I started painting with oils. Painting runs in my extended family. My father-in-law is a watercolor artist. We sometimes paint together it connects us. Sharing ideas and paints. I am inspired by color and space. I see the world and wonder how did it get this beautiful. This colorful. My art style hopefully shows my love and appreciation for this world. Painting is a way for me to express joy and gratitude for the life I've been gifted with.
My style is colorful, simple, and vibrant.
My husband and I travel. Travel brings me lots of ideas and inspiration. We enjoy exploring tropical forests and mountain vistas. Our favorite tropical forest is El Yunque in Puerto Rico. We never tire of the magic of that place. We also, love to ski in the winter in Steam Boat Springs Colorado the vast mountain views are so breathtaking. Our family loves these places.
So the next time you are someplace beautiful take a deep breath and say thank you. Let the art and beauty of the place inspire you. You can contact me at sondraharper99@gmail.com
I hope you enjoy my artwork. Sondra Harper
